Beginning level Spanish courses


General Objective

The Instituto Cervantes offers 4 beginning level courses: beginning 1, 2, 3 and 4. Each student receives 30 hours of instruction at each level.

In our beginning level courses students will acquire a general knowledge of the basic grammar contents along with a socio-cultural view of the Spanish speaking countries; they will also achieve basic receptive and productive skills both in the oral and in the written language.


Specific Objective

Listening: The student will be able to understand oral messages on material needs, physical sensations and personal opinions in a simple, explicit way.

Speaking: The student will be able to produce statements concerning basic needs, physical sensations, opinions and feelings.

Reading : The student will be able to understand the gist of short texts concerning topics the student is familiar with.

Writing: The student will be able to write short notes using simple statements with basic link words.


Beginning 1 Objectives

Establish a first contact with the Spanish language and the countries in which it is spoken. 
Get to know your classmates, ask for personal information, likes, dislikes and hobbies, etc. Organize a group vacation.

Beginning 2 - Objectives

Conduct business/consumer transactions.
Create a guide for healthy living.
Understand and talk about your professional life so far as well as others.

Beginning 3Objectives

Conduct conversations in stores where food is sold and in restaurants.
Organize a trip.
Talk about the advantages and disadvantages of living in the city.

Beginning 4 - Objectives

Become familiar with different types of businesses. 
Learn about making appointments, invitations and giving and understanding directions.  
Write a biography and talk about someone´s life.
